Connemara - TB cross- Yearling filly- Fabulous pedigree!

Smooth Sambucca (Wildwych Wily Casanova x Smooth Volume xx (Tidal Volume xx & Tapit xx) DOB 5/29/22.

“Bucca” is a lovely 1st generation Connemara/TB cross that is a fabulous eventing prospect, jumper or even a dressage horse with time and training. Bred to be a performance horse, Bucca should be about 15-15.2h, approx. Bucca’s sire, “Sly” is 14.3hh with 8 3/4″ bone. He is inspected and approved by the ACPS, N/HWSD. Bucca’s dam, “Smoothie”, is 16h and is currently enjoying life with a young hunter/jumper rider.

Sly recently won Connemara of the Year 2022. He is owned by Blackwing Connemaras and is an experienced movie star, with several TV and movie appearances, in addition to his own sport performance record. Sly is the grey horse in the last 2 pictures.

Bucca has a fantastic TB line. Her dam, Smoothie, is a sweet, sweet mare who loves people and running. Bucca’s 2nd dam sire is the phenomenal Tapit who currently stands at Gainesway Farm for a massive $185,000 stud fee. Tapit’s progeny have proven that he is a top sire in TB racing and “one of the most influential and breed shaping stallions of the last half-century”, per Gainesway Farm.

Bucca carries Tapit’s fabulous and proven bloodlines into the sporthorse world. The author of the North American Sport Horse Breeder book, Kathleen Hiney Kirsan raved about his breeding and how it contributed to making him such a magnificent sire.

Bucca’s sire, Sly has also given her a phenomenal and a completely natural jumping ability that should take her and her rider far. As provided by his owner, he has many accomplishments and has proven himself to be a very successful sire with many full and halfbred progeny.

Sly rides English and Western, jumps to 1.30m, drives both singly and as a team, participates in hunter/jumper clinics, dressage clinics, eventing clinics, and natural horsemanship clinics. From 2017 to 2019, he was champion or reserve at every A show he attended in open competition at the 1.10 to 1.10m height.

At an eventing clinic with Sinead Halpin and Tik Maynard, Sinead wanted to take him home and Tik said he was what everyone should look for in an eventing horse. Sly’s offspring follow in his versatile and highly trainable footsteps. Bucca was bred to become a horse that takes Sly’s performance ability to the next level with added speed from her Tapit lines.

Sly himself is highly trainable, loves to compete, has an excellent engine and hind end along with a quick and catty front end. He’s forward and brave yet kind and tolerant- even the smallest child can handle him and the rankest beginner ride him. Bucca is showing very similar characteristics. She is the smallest filly on our farm, but that does not stop her from showing grit and determination in competition with the other yearlings, all of whom are much larger than she is, in both weight and height.

Bucca’s 2nd sire is a magnificent, proven champion in the U.K.- Bunowen Castle Ri.

Bucca’s 2nd granddam’s sire on the top side is Oxenholm Matador. As relayed by Sly’s owner: Among Matador’s many achievements are numerous NPS Working Hunter and M&M ridden classes. At six years old, he was BCPS Champion Ridden pony and won the Connemara class at Olympia. As a seven year old, he was BCPS Champion Stallion and Reserve Supreme Champion Connemara. As a twelve year old, he was Overall Champion Performance winner, Side Saddle, and Elementary Dressage winner at the BCPS Ridden show. For the BCPS Golden jubilee show, Matador, at nineteen years old, came out of retirement to win the Side Saddle, Stallion, and progeny classes.

Bucca is fully vaccinated, wormed, leads and loads onto a trailer. She has a delightful personality and may be the most determined yearling on the farm. She has the same super friendly, people-loving manner that her parents have. She has natural jumping ability and a love of running. She will be a great partner for anyone looking for a talented, smart and motivated horse who will likely jump anything put in front of her.
