Day in the Sun

For Sale: Day in the Sun
Sire: Sun King Dam: Justified
DOB: April 9, 2012
Barn name: Sunny,

Sunny is a 16.1hh nine year old bay OTTB gelding, with the absolute sweetest soul, loveliest gaits, and best brain you will come across.
Sunny raced until 3-17-18, and then made his way to Second Chance Thoroughbreds, where he was let down and put into dressage boot camp for a year. At the beginning of 2020 Sunny popped a splint high up on his front left; then 2020 continued to unfold and he ended up with the entire year off, because no person or horse avoided the repercussions of this pandemic.
I picked him up January 1, 2021, and after a year off he loaded into a strange trailer, hauled 2.5 hours away and came off the trailer like he’d been living at my house his whole life. No spook, no spaz, and was incorporated into the herd within 20 minutes of getting off the trailer. Since Sunny was such a level headed kid I decided we’d just hop back into light work, and he hasn’t missed a beat.
He is the exact same off property as he is at home (he may actually be slower). Happy to be ridden in a field, in the ring, in an indoor. He went to his first dressage schooling show at River Glen and won his Intro A division and was second in Intro B. We went xc schooling (his first time ever) and he hopped over the starter fences, never batting an eye at ditches, banks, or the water. He came in second at his first CT (in the world’s spookiest indoor), and just recently won his Intro division at Poplar Place HT, where he also had the lowest score of the ENTIRE show.
This horse really is wonderful, and if I could keep him I would in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, my bank has gotten fond of me paying my car payments on time (needy). If you have wanted to bring along a horse, but not wanted to battle baby brain and antics, Sunny is your man. He is a bit of a kick ride, but can go in all 3 phases in a snaffle or baucher. Loads and trailers well, stands great for the farrier and vet, happy as a clam in the crossties or tied to the trailer. He is up to date on his shots, coggins, shoes, and deworming. His splint has not bothered him once, and because I’m a paranoid soul, I just leave front boots on him and rotate through pairs. We’ve got x-rays of it if you want extra reassurance that it’s a blemish and not an unsoundness. I’ve got tons of videos, so feel free to reach out to see them!
Sunny is the dearest soul, and loved by everyone who meets him. Asking $15k and that his new owner keeps cheetos on hand (Sunny loves them).
