Overview

Morven Park is a non-profit 1,000-acre historic property in Loudoun County, Virginia, hosting three museums, education programs, and a world-class equestrian center. The Development department is responsible for engaging the regional community with Morven Park through annual social, equestrian, and member/donor events, including our popular Polo in the Park season. Summary of Position:

As a member of the Development team, reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the successful management of both Morven Park events and facility rentals. This is a full-time exempt position with a competitive benefits package. This position has a flexible onsite 40 hour per week schedule to accommodate events and client meetings, and will include working evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

Responsibilities:

• Produce outstanding events on time and within budget;
• Plan, organize, and execute various multi-day events;
• Assist with horseshow preparations and management;
• Build positive customer relationships, negotiate and execute contracts with facility rental clients;
• Introduce prospective facility rental clients to Morven Park’s programs, facilities, and grounds;
• Maintain digital records, including contacts, through Morven Park’s Salesforce database;
• Other duties as assigned to support the Development team and the Park.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Proven ability to manage multifaceted projects simultaneously within established deadlines and budgets;
• Experience providing exemplary customer service skills and professionalism;
• Ability to collaborate with team members within and across departments;
• Positive approach to problem solving, new tasks, and collaborative projects;
• Ideal candidate will be a detail-minded, energetic self-starter and willing to enthusiastically promote Morven Park’s mission and programs;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Microsoft Office skills required, Salesforce experience a plus;
• Ability to regularly stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and climb up/down stairs. Must be able to comfortably stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit, and must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds;
• Many of Morven Park’s events are located outdoors, thus the position may be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees including extreme temperatures;
• Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience in site or event management; equestrian experience a plus.
